Fall-Line Motorsports to field 2 V8 powered E92 M3’s at Verizon Festival of Speed this weekend.

May 12, 2009 - After another strong finish in NJ just 2 weeks ago, Fall-Line Motorsports is pleased to announce the addition of a second car to its team for this weekends Verizon Festival of Speed, taking place at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in Salinas, CA. The #28 BMW had been driven to an 8th place in the points standings after 3 races by team owners Mark Boden and Steve Jenkins. For this race however, Boden will be teaming up with Koni Sportscar Challenge Rookie Joe Koenig in the Black and Red #46 Krahl Construction, Trim-Tex Drywall Products machine. Koenig, who will be making his first Koni start this weekend, is no rookie to speed though.

”7.0 Joe” is a former motorcycle drag racer who was a pro stock record holder with a 7.02 second run in the ¼ mile. Joe, who has won championships in drag racing, has now moved on to 4 wheel racing starting with SCCA, running in the National Championship Runoffs in 2008, then moving onto endurance racing where he and the Fall-Line drivers ran in the 25 Hours of Thunderhill in December. “I’ve done some Skip Barber races here at Laguna with my kids in the past, so I thought it would be a good place to start my Koni chapter of racing,” said Koenig. "I’m neighbors with Mark and Steve, and we’ve spent a lot of time together racing in the past couple of years. I’m really looking forward to getting my feet wet here and having a fun time.”

With Boden moving into the #46 car with Koenig, the White and Blue #28 HRE Performance Wheels, B.R.M Chronograph, DINAN, Original BMW Parts,  Sparco car was left with an empty seat. 2007 Koni GS Champion Jeff Segal will share that seat with Jenkins for this race.

“Jeff and I have become friends over the past couple of years, and when he approached me about how the new car was, and offered his help to us, I was really excited,” said Jenkins. “When we had this seat open up, we thought he’d be a good fit for it.

I’m excited to have him driving with me this weekend. He’s already been a big help to me this year, and I think sharing the car with him will help the team even more."

In other Fall-Line News, the shop is staying very busy with a huge club racing program, and continuing to build more club race cars, and serveral new Koni Cars are also in the pipeline. Steve has made sure that everyone is excited about the Chicago Blackhawks making it to the NHL Western Conference Finals. Those Playoff Beards being sported by Jenkins, Car Chief James Pauly, and Koenig, are starting to look a little ragged, and they couldn’t be happier "man these things are gonna be nasty come June" laughed Jenkins!!

The Verizon Festival of Speed Koni Sportscar Challenge race is scheduled to air on Speed TV on May 23rd and 12:00 noon EST (11:00a CST.
